Originally established in 1902 to house
the annual county fair, today it serves the county in a
much broader way... hosting a variety of events throughout the
entire year. The fairgrounds has grown from attracting approximately
11,000 people to attend 27 events in 1977, to 400,000 people
attending 380 events in 1998.
In November 1998 the voters of Klamath
County approved a $4.5million dollar bond to fund the construction
of a 93,000 sq. ft. Event Center at the Klamath County Fairgrounds.
The new Event Center is one of the largest indoor facilities
in the Northwest it was completed February 1, 2000.
The Klamath County Fairgrounds is a
County Department. The five member Fair Board, appointed
by the County Commisioners, is responsible for establishing goals
and setting policy. The Fairgrounds Manager, working directly
for the Fair Board, serves as the General Manager of the fairgrounds
operations. Additional Staff includes : Day Foreman, 6
Maintenance Workers, 1 Office Secretary, 1 Administrative Secretary.
